One charged, one on the lam after armed car-jacking attempt: London police

London police have arrested a Mississauga man, 18, and are looking for a second suspect in connection with an attempted car-jacking involving a handgun.

Man charged with armed robbery after couple carjacked at London gas station: police

According to police, a 24-year-old man sitting in his vehicle at the southeast corner of Oxford Street West and Wonderland Road was approached by two males just after 10 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the suspect demanded he exit the driver’s side. One of suspects pulled out a handgun after the victim refused, police say. Yet the driver still didn’t exit the vehicle, and police say the two suspects fled in opposite directions.

Police arrested a suspect nearby and on Tuesday announced an 18-year-old man from Mississauga had been charged with robbery/assault with intent to steal and attempting to commit a dual procedure offence.

He’s expected to return to court on Wednesday to answer to the charges.

London police continue to search for a second male suspect, described as five feet 10 inches, 175 pounds, black, 20-30 years of age, with a slim build and black hair.

The victim was not injured during the attempted robbery, police say.
