ACM Award Nominations Are Here: See Who Leads The Way And Who Got Left Out

As you started flowing into work Wednesday morning, the list of Nominations for the 54th Academy Of Country Music Awards started to leak and we had an idea of who was going to lead the charge, who had some surprise nominations and who got snubbed.

Leading the charge (unsurprisingly) was Chris Stapleton along with Dan + Shay who have 6 nominations to each of their names. For Dan + Shay, it was carried by their self titled album as well as their smash hit Tequila, which is up for single, song and video of the year. Dan Smyers also collected 4 individual nominations on top of that. Meanwhile, Chris Stapleton looks for another Male Artist of the Year award, to go along with nominations for song, album and entertainer of the year.

Kasey Musgraves slotted second in nominations with 5 of her own, including album, single and Female Artist of the Year. Right behind her, Brothers Osborne, Florida Georgia Line and Dierks Bentley have 4 nominations a piece.

Recently engaged Carly Pearce and Michael Ray are up for New Female and Male Artist of the year awards. Canadian duo High Valley is up for New Duo of The Year and Canadian Lindsay Ell is also up for New Female Artist of The Year.

On to the snubs, and if there was one artist who got snubbed from the nominations, a name that comes to mind is Kane Brown. Yes, he is up for single of the year with Heaven, but with the amount of collaborations done, other singles released like What Ifs and Lose It, as well as his own album Experiment, you’d think he’d be in there for a couple more. That album by the way broke records by being streamed 2.5 million times its first day of release, making it the highest streamed country album ever for 1st day streams. It was disappointing not to see him slot in somewhere for a couple more noms.

What about Zac Brown Band? Nothing to show either, despite being on the road quite frequently throughout 2018. Sure their last album was released in 2017, but it was a pretty great one in”Welcome Home”. Along with singles “From Now On” and “Someone I Used to Know”, it just seems off not seeing them somewhere in the nominations.

The other big one for me is Kelsea Ballerini. Not 1 nomination? We know, nothing was technically released in 2018, but Miss Me More started carrying traction then. Russell Dickerson released “Yours” in 2017 and is nominated, so why wouldn’t “Miss Me More”? Crazy considering her collaborations with The Chainsmokers as well as performances at other events and awards shows didn’t land her one nomination.

The final one is the fact that no woman was nominated for Entertainer of The Year. It’s understandable due to the fact that Carrie Underwood wasn’t on the road. Miranda Lambert was but maybe didn’t have the same appeal as some of the other artists nominated, and can you really include Taylor Swift in here? Still, you’d think Kasey Musgraves would slotted in. It’s tough, but maybe that narrative gets broken with the likes of Maren Morris or Kelsea Ballerini will jump into this category next year.

Who would you have put in there? Anybody missing? Is it perfect? Who got snubbed from your list? Let us know!
