Our festival is based on a legendary promise by Tillsonburg’s founder, George Tillson, to return one day as a turtle to see how his town was prospering. Several years after his passing, a giant turtle was found on the banks of the Otter Creek near the Tillson homestead. Remembering his promise, Tillsonburg citizens brought the turtle to the downtown area & everyone was invited to come and see “George” and let him know how the town had prospered. It’s been over a hundred & thirty years since this event and Tillsonburg is still growing. We’re inviting you to visit on this special occasion & see how Tillsonburg continues to prosper!
TurtleFest 2018 will be a 3 day event: June 15th, 16th and 17th, 2018.
June 15th will see the return of the Downtown Block Party, the night when we close off downtown Tillsonburg to vehicles and open it up to music, food, fun and shopping on the streets!
June 16th and 17th will feature the TurtleFest town events as well as the feature Fairgrounds venue. Across Tillsonburg, venues such as the Annandale National Historic site will host turtle themed fun and games while showcasing their place in the community. The Fairgrounds is the main place for music, food and fun featuring the TurtleFest stage with music and entertainment.
Friday at 7pm see’s Andrew Hyatt, Leah Daniels, Nicole Rayy & Buck Twenty take the stage.
