Fanshawe Frolic: Armistice Ball

The whole Village & Country 104 is celebrating the end of the War at the Armistice Ball- the signature event during our 11th annual Fanshawe Frolic Weekend, August 4-5, 2018!

This is the year to “pack up our troubles” and celebrate the last year of World War I and the long awaited Armistice. We’ll be following in our ancestors’ footsteps by dancing their favorite dances to the actual music popular during the last years of World War I and the early 1920s. Much of this music will be from rare collections of original period recordings and will feature the lively One Step (the easiest dance to learn), the Hesitation Waltz, the original Foxtrot and the intriguing early Tango.

Period costumes are encouraged but not required. And you don’t need to have any previous dance experience. At the Saturday workshops, Dance Instructor and Historian, Mme. Cathy Stephens, will teach you all the basic steps you need to know to be able to do all the dances at the ball. These workshops will give you a chance to practice your new dance skills and to have fun in a lively social atmosphere.

New This Year! Tickets for the whole weekend are only $30. plus HST per person and that includes a 2 day pass to the Village, 2 dance workshops, the evening Ball and the Family Frolic informal dance and tea on Sunday.
