SUPERSTAR LINEUP GATHERING IN ST. THOMAS TO RAISE MONEY FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Twelve celebrities from the sports world will be gathering in St. Thomas in three weeks for the 41st Annual St. Thomas Sports Spectacular.

Detroit Lions Tight End Luke Willson is the latest and final addition to the head table, joining an impressive list who have confirmed their attendance at the St. Anne’s Centre on January 24th, 2019.

Blue Jays great George Bell headlines the group which includes three people with ties to Canada’s baseball team. Sam Gaviglio (who started the second-most games of any Jays pitcher in 2018) has confirmed his attendance, and Fan590 play-by-play man Mike Wilner will be back as emcee for the 5th consecutive year.

“What keeps me coming back is the people at the event. It’s so intimate when you pack five or six hundred people into St. Anne’s Centre,” says Wilner. “Hall of Famers, superstars with such huge names, and I love the wrestlers from when I was growing up. The intimacy is the best thing by far.”

Olympic champion Alex Kopacz of London will bring his gold medal, and Canadian tennis legend Daniel Nestor will also be appearing.

Hockey fans won’t be left out in the cold either. The Featured Speaker will be impressionist and NHL broadcaster Jim Ralph. Jayna Hefford (recently inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame) will be there along with Stanley Cup champion Derian Hatcher and former Leafs goaltender Mike Palmateer.

We continue our tradition of booking a wrestling legend. However this time we bring a pair. Ax and Smash (known as Demolition) are one of the greatest tag teams to ever step into the squared circle.

Tickets for the event are just $65 and are available through a committee member or online at our website: http://www.stthomassportsspectacular.com

Founded in 1978 by Father Pat Costello, the annual event has raised over $500,000 for St. Thomas Special Olympics, and the Elgin Association for Community Living. Guests will hear from a great lineup of celebrities, be able to bid on great prizes at the silent and live auctions, and mingle with the head table guests.
