Starting on Thursday, March 5, Heart & Stroke will expand its successful Activate program to include the London/St. Thomas/Woodstock region. The goal is to enroll thousands of participants in the Activate program — a six-month wellness program that uses exercise, nutrition counselling and incentives to help at-risk people from developing hypertension (high blood pressure).
Heart & Stroke is proud to be London/St. Thomasworking with Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaws and Shoppers Drug Mart), NexJ Health, University of Ottawa Heart Institute, and the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario to deliver the program.
Program eligibility for those interested in becoming a participant:
• Must be 40 years old or over.
• Must be pre-hypertensive which means high-normal blood pressure, measuring between 121 and 139 mmHg systolic or 121 – 129 mmHg systolic if currently living with diabetes.
• Must not be on any blood pressure medication.
