Speaker: Cristina Howorun
Cristina Howorun is an award-winning investigative journalist and documentary producer with CityTV. She is currently a member of the Queen’s Park press gallery and works primarily in investigative documentaries.
Howorun has covered every federal and provincial election since 2008, she’s been embedded with Canadian troops in the Mojave Desert, tracked down a suspected terrorist in Libya and exposed shocking levels of abuse and negligence in long term care homes.
More recently, she has been working in the documentary space – producing and hosting documentaries on gun smuggling, sex trafficking, Christian cults and incarcerated mothers.
Cristina has earned four Edward R. Murrow awards for investigative journalism, an RTDNA award for investigative journalism, the UNIFOR award for labour journalism and was the inaugural recipient of the Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women award, for her work in exposing sex trafficking practices along Canada’s busiest highway, a film in which LAWC was prominently featured.

All funds raised at the event go directly to providing front-line services to women and girls abused by their intimate partners, exploited in prostitution/sex trafficking/pornography, and/or subjected to sexual harassment or torture.
